Dermal Fillers

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used to provide facial volume restoration, improve facial contouring, and to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles that are a result of collagen breakdown within the skin. Dermal fillers are administered as injections into the skin and most of them only act for a short duration because they end up being absorbed into the body

Types of Dermal Fillers Treatments

Marionette Lines

The lines that appear at the corners of the mouth and drape down the chin are called marionette lines, like the outline of the jaw of a puppet or marionette. Dermal fillers have been tested and proven to be an effective treatment for Marionette lines. Sometimes, our practitioner Dr Rania combines both Botulinum toxin A injections and dermal fillers to achieve total correction of Marionette lines.

Chin Augmentation

The chin is more than a bony protrusion below your mouth. It is a key facial feature that brings balance to the face and other features. Dermal fillers are injected into specific sites in the chin to reverse anomalies or imbalance in projection, width or length of the chin. With small chin, the upper face can seem over-sized. Nose and forehead may appear larger. At Frederick Street Dental Care in Edinburgh, our practitioner Dr Rania offers a non- surgical chin enhancement using dermal fillers to restore harmony and balance for those with smaller chin

Cheek Bone Augmentation

As we age, the skin on the face can begin to droop. This is often noticeable on the upper cheeks and midface. Loss of cheek volume gives the face an unbalanced appearance. The effect can make the face look older and tired, changing the facial shape and creating bags under eyes. At Frederick Street Dental Care, Dr Rania uses dermal fillers for cheek bone augmentation which restore cheek volume. This non-surgical cheek lift can be used to tighten and reshape the cheeks to correct unbalanced structures.

Lip Volume

Soft, fuller and plump lips enhance your smile and create an attractive balance to your facial features. Hyaluronic acid fillers for lips are mainly used to improve water retention and consequently, the volume of the lips. They are injected directly into the lips and also in the neighbouring area around the mouth.

Hand Rejuvenation

As the skin loses collagen, volume and elasticity with age, wrinkles, lines and folds can appear not only on the face but also on hands.  Dermal filler injections like Radiesse and Voluma can add back some of the lost volume and smooth lines and folds to create a more youthful appearance not only on face but also on hands.

Questions? We got the answers!

Before any treatment, our practitioner will consult with you about your desires and needs.  Once the consultation has taken place the clinician will make a recommendation based on their assessment and advise if the dermal filler injections is the route to take.

The procedure takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes depending on how many injection sites are needed. Once the consultation has taken place the clinician will make a recommendation based on their assessment.

The longevity varies, but usually the results after the dermal filler injections last between 6 to 8 months. This period also depends on the substance injected. You should talk with Dr Rania about how long the injection is expected to last and when you need to come back for maintenance injections.
