Dental Crowns and Bridges
Dental Crowns
Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling. The Crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth. Crowns are sometimes also known as ‘caps’
Dental Bridges
If you have a missing tooth and want to get an artificial replacement for it then bridges may be the right option for you. To assess your specific needs, we offer you a complimentary consultation to help you determine if bridges are a suitable option for you.
Once you are ready to proceed with treatment we take a digital impression of your teeth for a high level of accuracy, to be able to provide you with a comfortable and accurate fit, at no extra cost over traditional methods. Your bridge is then made in UK with high quality porcelain. Soon after this you can come in for a fitting and can then proudly wear your personalized smile
Why would I need a crown?
There are number of reasons. For instance:
- The tooth may have been weakened by having a very large filling.
- You may have discoloured fillings and would like to improve the appearance of the tooth.
- You may have had a root filling which will need a crown to protect it.
- You may have had an accident and damaged the tooth.
- It may help hold a bridge or denture firmly in place.
Why would I need dental bridge?
Dental bridges can be used to:
- Fill the space of missing teeth.
- Maintain facial shape.
- Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position.
- Restore chewing and speaking ability.
- Restore your smile
- Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance
What does the treatment process involve?
Getting a bridge usually requires two or more visits. While the teeth are numb, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by removing a portion of enamel to allow for a crown. Next, a highly accurate impression or mould is made which will be sent to a dental laboratory where the bridge will be fabricated. In addition, a temporary bridge will be made and worn for several weeks until your next appointment.
At the second visit, your permanent bridge will be carefully checked, adjusted, and cemented to achieve a proper fit. Occasionally your dentist may only temporarily cement the bridge, allowing your teeth and tissue time to get used to the new bridge. The new bridge will be permanently cemented at later time.
