Toothache can range from a dull ache to a sharp, throbbing pain. It may signal early decay, an exposed nerve, an abscess or gum disease. Pain may vary from intermittent or fleeting sensitivity, to hot and cold that may indicate the early onset of decay, to the most dreadful acute throbbing pain caused by advanced decay and a dental abscess. We can usually relieve pain the same day. Call 0131 629 1158 or book online.
A chipped or broken tooth needs prompt attention to prevent further damage or infection. Whether it's a small chip on a front tooth or a larger break on a molar, we can repair most cases the same day with filling, bonding, or a crown.
A dental abscess is a pocket of infection that requires urgent treatment. Symptoms include severe throbbing pain, facial swelling, fever and a bad taste. Call us immediately — abscesses can worsen rapidly without treatment.
A lost crown or filling exposes the inner tooth to bacteria and sensitivity. We can re-cement or replace most crowns and fillings the same day, protecting the tooth from further damage.
Time is critical. Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the root), rinse gently in milk, and try to place it back in the socket. If that's not possible, keep it in milk and call us immediately on 0131 629 1158 — teeth treated within 60 minutes have the best chance of being saved.
Wisdom tooth pain can be intense and is often caused by infection (pericoronitis) or impaction. We can diagnose, relieve the pain, prescribe antibiotics if needed, and refer for extraction where appropriate.
A broken denture can usually be repaired the same day. Bring all the pieces with you — do not try to glue them yourself, as household glues can damage the denture permanently.
